Overview
Endodontic treatment is necessary when the pulp becomes inflamed or infected. The inflammation or infection can have a variety of causes: deep decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth, faulty crowns, or a crack or chip in the tooth.

Root Canals
A dental procedure performed to treat infected or damaged tooth pulp, which is the soft tissue located within the tooth's root canal system.
Fourth Floor Advanced Endodontics Walk-in Clinic
If you are experiencing severe pain/swelling and have a referral from your general dentist to our office. Walk-in patients are seen on a 1st come 1st seen basis. Patients may require a scheduled appointment to have their root canal completed at a later date.

No insurance / Private insurance - Fee range $110 - $1129

A root canal treatment can range anywhere from $740-$1129* depending on which tooth needs treatment and the type of treatment needed. (fees may change without notice).

Insurance
Delta Dental and state sponsored programs - Medicaid, CareSource, Molina and United Health Care Community Plan. Treatment for patients with state sponsored programs may require prior authorization from the insurance provider. Co-payments and treatment not covered by these insurance plans must be paid up front. Patients with other insurance carriers who have out of network benefits will pay in full and we will submit a claim to your carrier asking them to reimburse you.

Patients will need a referral from their general dentist explaining what tooth/teeth require root canal treatment/evaluation. The referral form to Advanced Endodontics must be completed and faxed or emailed by your general dentist’s office. Our fax number is 614-688-3608. Our email is rootcanal@osu.edu. Once our office has received your referral, we will add you to our list to be scheduled. Our office will call you when we are ready to schedule your dental appointment. Your scheduling will be dictated by appointment availability. Due to large patient population we serve, there may be a significant wait for your scheduled appointment.

Please bring a copy of your completed referral, a government issued photo ID, and your insurance card if applicable. If you are a new patient to the Advanced Endodontic Clinic please arrive 30 minutes earlier than your scheduled appointment.

We advise patients with referrals who are experiencing pain to come in during our Emergency Walk In hours. Patients without a referral who are experiencing pain may come in through the College’s Emergency Clinic. Your treatment will be completed by one of our first, second or third year Endodontic Residents.
