Our Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Services includes both acquisition and interpretation of 2D and 3D dental imaging modalities.

We provide acquisition services for conventional intraoral and extraoral radiographs as well as cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) studies. An order form detailing the request and indication for acquisition of images must be completed and these are accessible our Services Provided tab.

Effective April 1, 2025, the College of Dentistry does not have a board-certified OMF Radiologist available for interpretation of CBCT scans. A national search is currently underway for the hiring of a replacement.

Until a radiologist is hired, the College of Dentistry has contracted with BeamReaders for interpretation of all CBCT scans. Submission of CBCT scans captured within the College and distribution of reports will be handled by the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. No delays in interpretation report turnaround times are anticipated.

Image Interpretation

  • We also provide interpretation services for conventional intraoral and extraoral images as well as CBCT studies by a board-certified oral and maxillofacial radiologist. Our reports provide systematic reviews and summaries of significant image findings, including those that are incidental or pathological. A basic interpretation will focus on any evident abnormal radiographic findings, with particular emphasis on provider’s clinical concern(s).

Typical indications may include implant fixture treatment planning, endodontic complications, maxillofacial trauma, and evaluation of teeth impactions, temporomandibular joints, paranasal sinuses, and pathology. Airway analysis reconstructed from CBCT images is available upon request.
